Okay I can count on two hands and both feet how many times I have said, “Do you listen to The Weeknd?” and the reply along with the puzzled look is always the same “HUH, The Weekend?” Well it’s my mission to bring everyone’s attention to THE WEEKND. Not The Saturday and Sunday but “Toronto’s Very Own” and I don’t mean Drake. An artist who has over 35 million views on his Youtube channel alone (more than 75 million on the unofficial fan channels), but not ONE United States performance yet. Dozens of fan created videos, but only one official video release (The Knowing). Hundreds of thousands of downloads, but no album on store shelves. It’s 21 year old Ethiopian born Abel Tesfaye, better known to his cult following of fans (yes count me in) as The Weeknd. Continue reading
